When browsers and web applications evolve, their requirements also increased along with them.

I have been using chrome since it launched and usually, while using chrome many of us leave many tabs open. Think about some time when you make some research regarding a specific topic suddenly you might end up with many tabs opened on your browser.

These tabs actually run in the background and sometimes I check my activity monitor from my mac and it uses nearly 10–12 GB of ram 🥲

What is The Great Suspender?

There was a chrome extension used before named The Great Suspender

This extension was disabling the tabs you are not using currently and when you go back to the tab if you want to reuse you can click on it.

After quite a time the repository changed hands and some tracking code has been added to the repository to track user activities and has been removed from the chrome store afterward when its noticed.

You can read the whole story in this GitHub repository.

If you want to read more regarding to the process i have explained above
